Happy New Year!

Think I've put on about a stone in 2 days - can that happen? Did a brisk walk up PenyFan on Boxing Day with Al and Andrew - it was ok, but freezing fog made icicles on my hair and the dog's! Decided to take another trot up there with Dawn this morning - but checked the weather forecast beforehand to find - severe weather warning - 45-60mph gusts!!!!! Well,it could be wrong, so we went any way, even though I spent the whole night dreaming about being blown off Corn Du, and it was horrible!!!! before any of you tell me how stupid it was, we only went up the track next to the Storey Arms for about a mile, the icy rain stung our faces, the gale force wind blew our poles horizontal and we decided we weren't enjoying ourselves AT ALL!
I'd wanted to try out my new electrolyte drink, so I drank it in the car afterwards, mmm delicious - wonder what it would be like with a drop of vodka - could be a new craze, resolve to try it out on New Years Eve, what do you think?
Starting to feel like it's all quite real now - only 12 weeks to go, which is scary. I know I've lost weight and toned up hugely since we started this at the end of Aug, but I think I ought to look like those stringy marathon running types - and I don't. New Years Resolution - stop eating rubbish, and BE SENSIBLE!!! (If I was THAT sensible, would I be walking 45 miles - IN ONE DAY?)
Anyway. So far, hip feels fine. Arthritic toe joint hurts, but what the hell, it would hurt even if I was going to the shops, but it does limit my stride, and makes it harder to get my speed up.
I know I can do the distance, but the speed issue needs some work. Fundraising is also on our minds now that Christmas is over.
Looking forward to partying with my best buddies on New Years Eve, after some solid hill training of course. Happy New Year to you all! xxx

Happy Birthday to Dawn, Happy Birthday to Dawn, Happy Birthday to Dawneeee!!! Happy Birthday to Dawn!!!!Yaay!!!!
I think dancing at Salt may have been the best lower body workout ever as my knees are killing me today.
Wonder how Dawn feels after subzero skinny dipping....

Thanks girls for the pep talk on Friday - I am resolved to try not to allow myself to get so mentally stressed - I swear it is more debilitating than physical stress, certainly blimmin' exhausting. Anyway, thanks to all of you - I'm back on track, even though I feel knackered today, didn't get anything I wanted in Cardiff. Has anyone noticed how many of the shops seem to have closed? What's happening there then?

Anyway, looking forward to doing the Taff Trail on Sunday - it would be a really good psychological boost to end the year on.
